While crypto communities frequently cite the upper end of $1.2 quadrillion, official tracking by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) pegs the actual over-the-counter (OTC) outstanding notional value at roughly $846 trillion.Gross Market Value (~$21.8 Trillion): This is the actual amount of capital at risk and the true financial value of the contracts if they were liquidated today. According to the BIS OTC Derivatives Statistics, the gross market value sits closer to $21.8 trillion.
