Winter and Karina had been competing for Top 1 since the beginning of the school year. Everyone knew about them. Karina was the obedient, hardworking student who always had her notes complete before the teacher even asked. Winter was the complete opposite. She was always getting scolded for sleeping in class, talking during lessons, or coming in a few minutes late. But somehow, she was still one of the smartest students in their year. 25 years….for me this is a big day personally. 25 years ago I was a single mom busting my ass working in a car dealership to support my son. I stretched 70 hour work weeks. Two days off a month. He came to work with me when I needed and he was raised with cars. When this movie came out my passion for cars ignited what I did for a living. At the time the dealership I worked for was an “auto mall” (they don’t sell cars like this anymore). I sold Subaru, Mitsubishi, Cadillac, Dodge, Kia all in one dealer. I was certified in all of them. When this movie came out, I got to experience all the Fast and Furious red carpet events. Met amazing people, got to drive some insane cars and showcase performance of the Evo, Eclipse and STI on a runway strip for films. It was a time in my life I wish I could go back to. Because I was a single mom…my son was with me at all of these events. He grew up surrounded by fast cars, great people and experienced very young what it meant to be a part of true car culture before clout or ego. When people respected each others builds and supported like true enthusiasts with a passion. I strive so hard to bring this vibe to my cruises every week. To show people what TRUE car culture means and I think we do pretty incredible as a crew (not a club, entirely inclusive and this is never a me thing but a WE thing). Tonight is a night to bring back the car culture the way it was meant to be. The way it should have stayed all along. As a car enthusiast my hope is that tonight we remember. We remember the vibe of what this means as a community and we come together like we did back then. Leave the egos in the rear view and have a good time. See you OUTSIDE!
