“This is far more an Islamic principle than an Arab one. Arab nations that embraced Islam adopted these ways completely even those who remained Christian or followed other faiths simply by living alongside Muslims and integrating with them. So I see this as fundamentally Islamic, not merely Arab.
This is exactly what we see in Saudi Arabia: our men never ask a woman for money not for outings, not for housing, not for rent, not for household expenses. You find a true man who understands his role perfectly. He knows that a man’s wealth belongs to him, his wife, and his children; while a woman’s wealth is hers alone, entirely her own property. Even if she works, he will never ask her for money because he knows and fulfills his duty completely.
That is why I respect our men: they are responsible, they know the rulings, and they apply them correctly. In our Arab and Islamic societies, we have no difficulty cooking, cleaning, or caring for our children because the husband carries his full share of responsibility. The woman therefore contributes willingly, and we see this as natural life: each fulfilling what they were created for the man as a man, the woman as a woman.
This is why I cannot relate to Western ways, where a woman is expected to pay half of everything even when her husband is fully present and able. In Saudi Arabia, even a working wife literally pays nothing; her husband will never ask her unless she chooses to offer it freely. He will never force her to work or contribute financially he simply acts as a man should. This is what I love most about Islam: it places full responsibility, provision, and protection upon the man toward the woman.
