Speaking at the funeral prayers of former Finance Minister Kosti Manibe in Juba, Nyandeng said many of liberators today now walk the streets of Juba with their heads down despite the sacrifices they made for the country. Nyandeng also spoke about her own experience, saying that despite serving as Vice President, she can sometimes be prevented from meeting President Salva Kiir Mayardit and may go for up to two years without seeing him. “Even me as Vice President, if I go to the office of President Salva, I am pushed away as the Vice President,” Nyandeng said. She questioned the treatment of those who fought for South Sudan, saying the country’s current situation reflects how badly South Sudanese have treated one another. Nyandeng further declared that she was ready to die like the late Kosti Manibe if speaking the truth puts her at risk. “I am ready to die like Kosti if someone wants to follow me for my words, but I must talk,” she said.
