ok this one i actually agree with but highly doubt people will listen. in my experience the exclusion is on purpose. mom friend groups are some of the worst mean girl groups out there

Also think about the mom too! There's this one mom who invites all these other families over and then her son asks if my son can go because they are friends. She said yes to my son, but didn't include my family. I'm not in her friend group but I don't think it's for any deep reason, more we just don't interact much, but I'd like to be included more too.

The extremes I’ve gone to for meeting and getting to know my daughter’s friends mom’s! I’ve sent hand written notes through the child…approached them randomly at games, I’m ready to make mom business cards at this point. 😂

Yes! So important….it happens all the time on sports teams. Kids who have been friends longer talk about the sleepover last night, the swimming party at so-so house, etc. Heck, even in the parent group chat and the coach telling “if your kid spent the night at our house last night, they may need an extra rest before the game today”. Thanks Coach for leaving 6 kids out after last nights game 🙄

I love this! My son is friends with a group of boys and he is constantly left out of things because the mom friends do things together and don’t invite him. We invite their kids all the time to sleepovers at our house and the moms jump on the opportunity. Yet they never invite my son to anything. I’m an older mom (50) and they are in their 40s. I don’t care if you don’t invite me. Please invite my son.

I am having a similar type problem. The mothers and daughters have always been very close throughout school. We are headed into 8th grade and my daughter has been left out of several things. Makes it hard bc I always reach out for group things and hangouts, yet the same consideration is not happening and it’s so hard! Hard bc I want to take it personal, but I know it’s not necessarily that way.

When I was a kid, my friend’s moms would do this on purpose to leave me out

Hi :
I’ve experienced this before in elementary , my friends moms were all friends and created a play date group chat to plan hangouts for their kids and I was so mad

my son is an only child. he is v popular at school, but I am an older mother so not in the mum clique. I throw lots of playdates which are always attended and the kids are si happy but they are NEVER returned. My son is now 8 and has never been invited Anywhere other than bd parties. Its so upsetting.

I agree that intentional exclusion and cruelty should be addressed. But not every child will be included in every friendship, party, activity, or social circle, and that is also part of learning how life and relationships work. I worry that constant pressure to make sure everyone is always included can create anxiety in parents and entitlement in children. Kindness matters, but universal inclusion is not realistic. We all have enough in our plates!

Can I just say like…:being a mom is hard. Being just a girl trying to figure it out is hard. I really appreciate all these tips….they have truly helped me take a moment and think about how actions have domino effect whether we like it or not! Thank you!!!!
