@quietfacelessmom: I was putting them both to bed tonight. Telling them the way I do most nights how much I love them. Both of them. Equally, completely. And he looked at me and said, "But you love hugging the baby more." I don't think I've ever had to work that hard to keep my face still. Because that sentence was my biggest fear before she was even born - that loving a second baby would somehow take something away from him, or make him feel like less. It hasn't. It doesn't. But hearing him actually say it out loud landed differently than I expected it to. Love doesn't split in half when it grows. There's just more of it now. I just have to make sure he can feel that too, not only know it. Drop a 💜 if one of your kids has ever said the exact thing you were most afraid they felt.
