@kiyoshibotanicals: HOW I USE A FETOSCOPE AS A TOOL TO FEEL CONNECTED & AUTONOMOUS IN PREGNANCY 🤍 These are the things that helped me learn. It definitely takes a little patience and practice! A few tips to get started: • Find a quiet moment, lie down, and take a few deep breaths. Make sure the fetoscopes ear pieces are pointing forward. • Listen to your own heartbeat first. Get familiar with the rhythm and speed so it’s easier to distinguish your heartbeat from baby’s. • Around 15 weeks is the earliest I’d expect to hear a heartbeat with a fetoscope. Personally, I didn’t have any luck until after 20 weeks. • Don’t be discouraged if you don’t find it right away. You’re listening for something that sounds like a ticking watch muffled under a pillow. If you don’t hear it today, try again next week. It’s way harder earlier on and will be much easier the farther along in pregnancy you are. • If you know baby’s position, try listening over their upper back- that’s often the easiest place to hear the heartbeat. • The placenta often has a loud whooshing sound that’s in the same rhythm as your own heartbeat- can be cool to try to locate the placenta as well! • If you’re curious about baby’s heart rate, set a 10-second timer, count the beats, and multiply by 6. If you give this a try, I’d love to hear how it goes! Let me know if you have any questions. 🩷 #fetoscope #pregnancy #sovereignpregnancy #birth #ultrasound

As an ex-midwife, I LOVE to see mamas using these tools. Knowledge doesn’t need to be gate-kept 💛
