I mean, I find it a bit difficult when people say "she left him because he chose de/purebloods" like... did he have much of a choice? the school system is actively segregating the children into their houses. and naturally they outlived their friendship. she didn't spend much time with him anymore and he had no-one else to go to. it was literally "stop being their 'friend' and lose the only somewhat safety you have here" or lose her. which, he kind of already did. if they were still die hard bffs he probably wouldn't have needed the slytherins as much. which, still, ass choice, they all were bad people. but kinda adds to the whole "bros choices in life were extremely limited and barely left any room for developing being good"

Let's not forget that Lily was literally holding back laughter when James was bullying Snape by the tree. Too little attention is paid to it because it was momentary.

lily told Snape to leave her alone once and he respected her wish and gave her her space . Then became a double spy and sacrificed himself for her son not out of obsession but because he feels like HE caused the death of the only person who treated him kindly as a kid

if Snape was obsessed, he could have literally do what Merope did to Tom Snr., given he was a potions prodigy, but he didn't. And when she cut him off he left her alone, he didn't harass her like James did.

Snape attempted to control Lily like an abusive boyfriend “I won’t let you-“ “let me? Let me?!” He almost killed her sister the day they met and said her feelings didn’t matter because “she’s not special like us”. They had been at odds for YEARS because of his choices to hang around with and join in the activities of the Death Eaters. He became a terrorist, and even years later was doing stuff like breaking into a dead man’s home to steal her smile and her “love” so he could pretend they belonged to him.
