That’s so complicated. I’m sorry. Do you think she might have wanted (needed) you to say you wanted to be a part of the ceremony? I know you’re the child and she’s the parent, but going through a serious illness, especially a terminal one, can make you “needy” for lack of a better word.

I don’t know enough of your childhood to consider trauma. Was she very direct, yes. There’s just not enough information re your interactions w her and the history. She can’t take your grief. It may look different than you planned. I always say when people are in crisis we have to allow each person to do what they need to do to process and cope. Her process may be different than yours. Hope that helps and I have no history of childhood trauma.
