I still remember the heart surgeon that came to tell us how the surgery went with my dad - he was cold and technical, but I was SO thankful for his knowledge and ability. It was surprisingly comforting and I’ve never been more thankful for someone’s genuine expertise in my life.

And patients love talking to their surgeons or doctors in particular. Sadly most surgeons spend 3 -5 minutes per visit. This is how they end up seeing 35-50 patients per day. There is nothing wrong with seeing 2, max 3 patients per hour……..I would think. If you see 35 patients per day, you have no time to listen to them. Rather obvious.

I had back surgery and while I was in the hospital my surgeon never came to check on me and discuss the surgery. It made me never want to go back to him.
