I agree that in a relationship, a boyfriend’s emotions and feelings matter too. It shouldn’t always be about the girl being understood, adjusted to, or treated gently while the man is expected to simply adjust all the time. Both people deserve the same consideration, understanding, and respect.
I’ve learned this through my own relationship. My boyfriend never had to tell me directly that I was wrong or that I needed to change. Through the way he treated me and the way he responded to certain situations, he made me realize things about myself that I needed to work on.
I realized that being a woman doesn’t mean a man should always be the one to adjust. We also need to be accountable for our own toxic traits, mistakes, and unhealthy behaviors. Love is not about having someone constantly adjust to us just because we are the girl.
I believe in treating my boyfriend with the same respect, patience, understanding, and effort that I expect from him. There is no superior or inferior in our relationship. It’s not me versus him, it’s both of us learning, adjusting, and growing together.
Some of my old ideas about relationships changed along the way. What I once thought was “ideal” was replaced by something more realistic, mature, and healthy.
And honestly, I’m grateful for that growth. Sometimes, the healthiest relationship is the one that teaches you that love isn’t just about being treated right, it’s also about learning how to treat someone right. 🤍
