@rewirewithmilli: My psychiatrist explained something about my trading that i wish i understood years earlier. she showed me that the real question wasn’t “why can’t i just stop?” but “what am i actually getting from the behavior?” let me explain.. think about someone who wants to lose weight but keeps overeating. from the outside, the solution seems obvious: just eat less. but that ignores the behavior underneath it. what are they getting from food? comfort, escape, stress relief? what hole are they trying to fill with the behavior? that changed the way i looked at my trading. for the first time, i stopped seeing myself as weak or undisciplined and started looking at the pattern underneath it. i realised i was using trading for much more than making money. I had made trading responsible for giving me confidence, purpose, progress, excitement, and a sense of self-worth. i was trying to fix my entire life’s worth of emotional pain through another trade, another payout, another account, because for a few moments, winning made everything feel okay. it made me feel good about myself. it was a way for me to deal with my everyday-life emotions. like a binge eater uses food to comfort themselves, an alcoholic alcohol... I was using the market to fill my emotional holes. once i saw that clearly, i started building those things somewhere else. - i learned new skills and started learning a language to give me a sense of growth. - I went to the gym which not only gave me new confidence in myself, but also taught me that process doesn't come in a day but is built over times. - I built financial stability outside of trading which gave me pride and meaning. the more capable, secure, and proud i felt outside the market, the less i needed trading to prove those things to me, and the easier following my system felt. we all have our emotional baggage but we can't using trading as a way to fix it. we have to do the work outside the markets, to become stronger inside the markets. be honest, which emotional pain are you trying to numb with trading? comment if you want to open up and discuss it. #tradingforbeginners #howtotrade #trading #tradingmindset

it destroys your sense of money. its so easy to make money when you trade that when you try to work a regular job, it doesnt even compare. the high of doing well, burning your whole account, just to try it over again with the dream of just doing this until you dont need to suffer no more with a regular 9-5. how can you not be obsessed

I specialise in Trading psychology and unfortunately most courses don’t cover this and most mentors will just tell that you needs to be more disciplined 😭 but it’s a never ending loop unfortunately I have so many people coming to me unable to get out of loop :( Trading courses should have mandatory psychology section to explain the importance of the belief systems that are running subconsciously. It’s so damaging

trading gave me a sense of purpose and ultimately, freedom which got taken away from me quickly so it taught me humility too. I know I was meant for this

The exact same as you I’m slowly starting to realize it, because all I ever focused on was trading while giving small effort to my daily life. Thank you for this post

Trading reveals yourself to yourself. For four years, I remained inconsistent because every time I hit a drawdown, I quit. I constantly walked away to find something else that would give me immediate, visible progress. I eventually realized I felt behind in my personal life and had transferred that heavy pressure onto trading, hoping it would save me. Through introspection, I see it wasn’t just a trading issue; it was a broader lifelong pattern of being entirely too impatient with myself in any new endeavor I started.
