@abc7chicago: A raccoon in Seattle has become somewhat of a celebrity due to a shortened spine making him unusually round, and prompting an internet obsession in which the animal has been dubbed “Jimothy”. Jimothy, who has a spinal condition that makes him unusually short, regularly visits the backyard of Dmitriy Ishimskiy. Ishimskiy told Storyful the racoon would either sit on the fence, or dig around looking for food. Footage here shows Jimothy scratching himself before wandering off. “Over the past week, Jimothy has become a local celebrity, and I feel lucky to have captured this moment on video,” Ishimskiy said, with this footage dating back all the way to July 2025. Videos of Jimothy began going viral on social media as the animal amassed an online cult following, including an entire subreddit dedicated to discussions, memes and art.
