for one why u buckstraped in to what ur cutting... first mistake... u should be tied in an not using a buck strap to make that cut ..

Supposed to put a notch in any limb over 5". If the weight is bending the limb enough to pinch and undercut or notch, the the cut was made in the wrong place. Should've taken some weight off the end of the limb first.

on big limbs it's best to undercut and sometimes remove the lanyard if you're tied in or re position it away from the cut.
