Christopher Nolan didn’t use Homer‘s odyssey as the basis of this film. He optioned a 2017 feminist rewrite one of the most epic stories told in history. It contains liberal tropes, race, and gender swapping and goes to great links to point out the issues with toxic masculinity. If he had used the original story, he would not have been able to pan to modern audiences who wanted to see themselves reflected in the message.

There are over 60 translations of the original with different story lines! So which version do you compare it to! I think he did a great job telling the story! The modern dialogue was more off putting for me than anything else!

thank you for saying this, I watched it and as so as I got out of the theater I started telling the group that I went with but they brushed it off and said that it was probably because they didn't have time, but for me who loves the Odyssey it felt like they left out such an important part

Great movie! Will never read the book so I’m good with Nolan going a different route. That’s the great thing about directing, you can be creative and tweak the story some.. my only complaint was the score felt average. I know we’ve been spoiled with Hans Zimmer so that’s my standard when watching Nolan’s movies

you missed the entire point of him turning and popping that bow shot off into his eye. He basically said he was Odysseus without having to say it, and showed his hubris. poesiden would of known it was him from that. imo
