stardew valley is also perfect because the game has a lot of depth, but you can still get plenty of fulfillment experiencing the most surface level bits. it’s similar to minecraft in that way. the game only gets as deep as you want it to be

Slime rancher, fae farm, and stardew valley are my go to cozy games. I also play world of Warcraft and there’s a million different ways to play that game- it’s not a cozy game.

Not actually a recommendation for you specifically, but Grimshire doesn't get enough attention in the Stardew adjacent game category. It's more challenging and more stressful, and in a lot of ways feels more horror than cozy, but for me it really perfects a lot the Stardew formula. It's so good

no it's a shame. new horizons stripped away a lot of what made the animal crossing series so good. if you ever get access to it, the gamecube version is worth playing even today

If you like Disney, Disney Dreamlight Valley is a fun one with a surprisingly adult friendly storyline (like it doesn’t bore an adult to tears). It’s a bit grindy, but they are always coming up with new content and characters to get.

Animal Crossing to me just felt like an “exhaust your thumb” game from pressing a constantly, be it through dialogue, chopping trees, loading screens etc. so much friction and work in the ui and none in the actual gameplay

Graveyard keeper is so so good but they explain like nothing so to have a good experience with the game u kinda need to spoil the story for yourself and watch a playthrough which is unideal. When you actually know what can be ignored and what's important to focus on it's honestly less stressful than stardew cus the world only has weeks not seasons so if you miss anything the longest you have to wait is 6 days. It is very grindy tho so you kinda have to know u enjoy that kinda gameplay before you sink that kinda effort into it. I love it to death cus it's the same vibe as stardew without any of the same mechanics so I can play it once I get bored with stardew without issues.

Try My Time at Sandrock if you haven’t! You are a builder so you get materials to make things, the stuff you build also affects the world. Progression is so satisfying, long story line, amazing romance where you go on dates. It’s on the switch since I’ve seen you say you don’t have a PC to play games on!

I think it might be PC only but Dave the Diver is such a fun game. It has some suspense and combat but nothing crazy. Very good resource management and story line to keep things moving
