@pawsome.rescue.fu: ‼️ URGENT NEW INTAKE ‼️ We have absolutely no words. 💔 We have been focusing so much on shelter pulls lately, but yesterday an urgent intake came through our doors that completely shattered us. Her new name is Daphine. She’s Four years old. A cane corso weighing only 43.3 pounds. A female corso should weigh well over 100 pounds. The explanation we were given was that she “lost all her weight when she got out and was missing for 10 days.” Ten days does not cause this. Ten days does not strip a dog of over less than half her body weight. Ten days does not create this kind of emptiness. We did X-rays and full blood work, terrified of what we might find. But the results show no visible medical reason for her condition. Which means one thing. This is pure neglect. Her body has random sores all over it. When we speak to her, she trembles. When we touch her, she freezes. When the vet drew her blood, she didn’t even flinch. Not a single blink. Just frozen in fear, completely shut down. She is now hospitalized while we monitor her eating and drinking. So far, she won’t touch food or water. Her body is horrible, but it’s her spirit that’s truly broken. For a rescue that stands so strongly behind the powerbreeds, this has gutted us. They are sensitive souls beneath their strength, and to see one this broken… it’s hard to breathe through it. 🙏🏼 Can we make this a Toonie Tuesday for Daphine? 🙏🏼 Even $2 adds up when enough hearts come together. We need help with her hospital care & recovery. We know it feels like we’re asking constantly. But we are the only ones standing between dogs like Daphine and complete despair. I just don’t even know how someone can look at a dog like this and continue every day life normally. Let’s show her that love still exists. Let’s show her that this time, humans will fight for her.
