My friends shamed me for not shaving my armpits. And they called it unhygienic. How can hair be unhygienic? It's there for a reason. and they said it's unhygienic because it traps smell. That is not the same. And I have so little armpit hair that you would only see it up close. Why would I shave that and risk more growth? My mom shaves, but she's always told me she regrets it and I should wait as long as possible. I am really grateful that she's never made me feel like shaving wad a good thing

I don’t care WHY you shave. The fact is that you had to START to shave. Sensory issues weren’t why you started shaving. It was probably bc someone made you feel shame about your body hair. And THAT is the issue.

Funny how the ‘I’m shaving for sensory issues’ crowd put up with a multitude of potentially uncomfortable things on the daily such as tight clothing, lashes, long hair, shoulder bags, heels and lack of pockets because those things aesthetically conform to a standard for them that is worth adhering to. I’ve had young girls (5-9) who don’t even know women can grow leg hair. They look at my legs and ask why I have it. I’ve had a 5 year old girl ask if I’m actually a boy because of my leg hair. If shaven legs is all you’ve ever seen on the grown women in your life, the expectation is to never have it and that it is *wrong* to have it.

I also feel like at least 70ish % of people saying they do it because of sensory issues just mean "I like the feeling of smooth legs better". And that's fine, you can have a preference, but don't appropriate the neurodivergent experience to make your argument seem like it's something that it's not.
