real nikki begged bear to kill her before he went to the park. he took the pills with him so she couldn’t kill herself while he was gone. because sandy (the cat) killed herself while he was gone, due to his neglect of not feeding her and then leaving the pills out. so bear learned from his mistake, but it’s just another instance of him taking away nikki’s autonomy/free will/ability to choose that for herself.

He was likely either using them himself, or drugging Nikki to sleep because she freaked him out. In a movie where literally everything is deep this was not that deep. He's specifically depicted as being the "good guy" bad guy. He didn't take them to drug Sarah.

I always thought that Bear was taking the pills so he could sleep through the night to keep up the facade that their together, especially after those nights where things got real rough, you can see videos of him sleeping at the end of the movie on the tv as well

Because they're probably the sleeping pills Nikki was prescribed to take 2 scenes ago by the hospital they went to after the forehead injury, and Bear is most likely wearing the same pants he wore when he bought the meds.

I took it as he was either using them for himself because his situation is terrifying and he’s having trouble sleeping or he drugged nikki so he wouldn’t have to deal with her, espc after the bottle thing earlier in the night

i always interpreted this part as alluding to the fact that bear had been drugging wish nikki to keep her asleep at night. after that first night where she is watching him sleep and he freaks out about it, we never see something like that happen again, and i always assumed that that throwaway line was implying that he was using them to keep her asleep
