@blackpeopleunitenow: Malcolm X wasn’t saying people should become violent. He was exposing a double standard. For centuries, governments, police, and nations have relied on force to protect their interests. Yet the moment Black people begin talking about defending their own lives and communities, they’re labeled as dangerous. His question was simple: if every other people has the right to protect themselves, why should Black people be the only ones expected to remain defenseless? The issue was never the existence of self-defense. The issue was who was allowed to exercise it. That conversation made many people uncomfortable then, and it still does today.
Tell it, all we want is the same thing that everybody else has. Fair is fair. Black people, by nature Love who love us.
