Ik it will sound awful, but let me explain. Pope John Paul 2 was polish pope and in old polish internet he became something like a meme. It was mostly dark humour because most poles that time loved him and polish users started to ragebaiting making jokes, parodies and memes about him (something similar to Kirk). And he died at 9:37am but in polish this hour is spelled 21:37. So people started making jokes about this hour (for example singing JP2 favourite song "barka" on that hour). It didn't take long to go from 21:37 to 2137 as "funny" number to give random number for example " that was 2137 showers ago".
