many in the comments are either delusional, missing the point or felt attacked. as an italian (born and raised here) i do realize the world right now is a mess all over, but claiming that it's the same everywhere is so out of touch. yes we have good weather and good food, but that's definitely not what makes a country. university is practically free depending on your income, but it's incredibly hard to work at the same time as employers don't gaf that you study, and if you need to move across the country to attend it can be a big problem. same for saving. most italians leave their parents' house at 30, which is genuinely embarrassing. we don't even have a minimum wage, so once again, saving up and living in general is incredibly hard unless you have your parents' support, and in most cases you'll still have to share living because the prices are way higher than our wages. yes, healthcare is also free, however when you decide not to go private they can keep you waiting for literal years and i know many people whose condition got worse because of this. our politicians and the majority of people treat politics like it's a football match: there is no real dialogue, only trolling online, and we're constantly on the verfe of falling under fascism again. middle class is practically nonexistent as the rich are free to do whatever they want and since there's barely any jobs the poor give up their freedom and desires in exchange for welfare (if you rely entirely on that, you won't have to worry about anything ever, but you'll also never live and just survive on the crumbs they give you). we're also first for public debt, we jump at each other's throats over bs online but never take it up with the government and never do anything to change things, and we're still divided. bureaucracy is a torture, people are jealous and unsupportive, and mafia still controls many things. i could go on but i hope this gives you an idea. our country is beautiful and if you have some resources you can totally enjoy it, but factually it's collapsing onto itself and there's no room for growth for young people
