HERO Ömer Halisdemir🫡 The Hero of July 15: Ömer Halisdemir Early Life and Military Career Ömer Halisdemir was born on February 20, 1974, in the Çukurkuyu town of Niğde, Turkey. Growing up in a modest, hardworking Anatolian family, he developed a deep sense of patriotism from a young age. He joined the Turkish Armed Forces as an infantry soldier and later achieved his dream of becoming a Special Forces Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO). Throughout his career, he served with great honor and distinction in various dangerous operations both inside and outside of Turkey. The Night That Changed History On the night of July 15, 2016, a faction within the Turkish military attempted a coup d'état to overthrow the elected government. At the time, Halisdemir was stationed at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Ankara, serving as the right-hand man to Lieutenant General Zekai Aksakallı. As the chaos unfolded across the country, a group of heavily armed pro-coup soldiers, led by Brigadier General Semih Terzi, arrived at the headquarters to seize control of the Special Forces command center—a critical strategic point for the success of the coup. The Last Order Lieutenant General Aksakallı managed to reach Halisdemir by phone. He gave him a historic and fateful order: "Semih Terzi is a traitor. Shoot him before he enters the headquarters. This is a historic order. I give you my blessing (helallik), but know that you will likely become a martyr." Without a single moment of hesitation, Halisdemir replied: "Yes, sir. I give you my blessing too. May my life be sacrificed for this country." The Ultimate Sacrifice Halisdemir quietly blended into the darkness outside the headquarters and waited. When General Semih Terzi and his heavily armed guards walked toward the entrance, Halisdemir stepped out from his hiding spot, drew his weapon, and shot the traitorous general, killing him on the spot. By eliminating the leader of the assault, Halisdemir completely threw the coup plotters into confusion and shattered their morale. Immediately after firing the shots, Halisdemir was struck by multiple bullets fired by Terzi’s guards. He fell to the ground and achieved the martyrdom (şehadet) he had bravely accepted just minutes prior. He was 42 years old. His Legacy Ömer Halisdemir’s quick thinking and ultimate sacrifice are widely credited with stopping the momentum of the coup attempt. By saving the Special Forces Command, he prevented the plotters from organizing a central military resistance, which ultimately led to the failure of the coup. Today, he is remembered as an immortal symbol of courage, loyalty, and patriotism. Many schools, parks, and universities across Turkey are named after him. His grave in Niğde is visited by thousands of grateful citizens every year. His story stands as a powerful reminder of how the bravery of a single soldier can save the destiny of an entire nation #keşfet #fyp #tiktok #viral #türkiye
