they’re giving stellar swirl buffs to some dps and a buff to zhongli (probly tied to stellar reaction) so obviously the pyro dps hu tao won’t be getting a stellar buff yet since is useless to her but she’l probably get a buff soon

I love playing Hu Tao and I’ve invested in her for a while, however it’s undeniable that she falls behind on meta. Some of things I’ve noticed personally are: By having no special mechanic, subpar scaling, and in direct competition to pyro units like arlechino and mavuika, Hu Tao can’t be considered good. Even her signature does quite literally nothing special for her. This is all in vain if I don’t mention her clunky playstyle. Relying on charged attacks is unique, but will have you sprinting back over to your enemy every single time, even when you dash cancel. Her burst is incredibly energy costly as well, making her nuke feel like waiting for raiden’s resolves to stack. On top of that, her burst does nothing if her skill (which has a 20 sec cool down from what I can remember) isn’t active, which adds to her energy issue. Further, the one relevant passive talent she has can’t even be used by her. The talent makes is so that when you switch out of Hu Tao whilst her skill is active, all members gain a crit rate bonus, besides her. It’s quite literally useless. Further when she attacks an enemy, she adds this red bloom to them that deals pyro damage on intervals. This would be great in theory, but it just messes up her vaporize rotations and damage potential. She is also incredibly dependent on a shielder. With her below 50% hp requirement, she would die very quickly with no sustain? And would no abysmally low damage with a healing sustain. Another issue I have with her kit is her weirdly scaling method. Unlike most characters that scale off of hp or atk, her skill CONVERTS her hp to atk. However, it’s not just that ho potential, she needs a good amount of atk on the side to do a modicum of damage (the scaling is like ___hp+ ___atk). So naturally, you might want to pair her with an atk support like bennet, except you can’t because he’ll heal her. I really love Hu Tao, but I’m finding myself avoiding playing her because of her strict team requirements and just overall difficult play style. There are so many meagre areas of her kit that can be improved with a few tweaks, so to see her not get a buff again this time around is kinda disappointing to say the least.
