Volunteer at any type of event. Knowing you belong puts you at ease in speaking first. Use that lesson for life ;)

As someone who lives alone, I also feel like I am often walking into a social situation completely “cold”, because I’ve literally been by myself for 12-32 hours lol. So I “warm-up” by pregaming with a glass of wine or cocktail (social lubricant) as I get ready, listen to a funny witty podcast to prime myself for similar conversation, and try to wear an outfit I feel very confident in. 👍🏼

I have found that at networking events a simple “mind if I join you?” always works, and typically gets a response of “of course! we were just talking about XYZ…”

i love this advice. i give compliments out everywhere because even if its fleeting its genuine connection. it becomes easier and more natural too! and i used to be very introverted

I want to add, hype yourself up before walking in. Affirm yourself, say aloud how much of a great person you are, “You got this”. It makes a difference 🫶🏾✨

Like so many things in life, this boils down to self confidence. So important to build this in your youth with exposure to a variety of situations!

naming your emotions is often a GREAT entry line! “I’m alone here and a little nervous, mind if I join your conversation?”

I always say “can I stand here” and I’ve made a good amount of friends doing that. Especially when I’m traveling.
