Dickson Emrys Harvey :
Regarding the issue of rent control, I am not sure whether Hilda Hostel is trying to challenge anyone. Before questioning the amount being charged to students for accommodation, I believe the first question should be. What benefits and amenities are included in the amount a student is paying?
For example, have we considered the cost of electricity, water, gas, beds, wardrobes, maintenance, and other facilities and services provided to the students?
Management does not simply wake up one day and randomly come up with a figure to challenge students. These factors are usually considered when determining the cost of accommodation.
In my opinion, the right approach would have been to first communicate and consult with the management before taking the issue to social media. Some people genuinely care about their businesses and their reputation, so proper communication should come first.
By bringing the issue publicly without first engaging management, I am not sure whether the intention was to raise a genuine concern or whether it could be perceived as an attempt to tarnish the image of Hilda Hostel.
Hilda Hostel is not just an ordinary hostel. It is part of a wider group of companies involved in hospitality and transportation. Therefore, publicly raising such an issue can potentially create broader implications.
My advice would be to consider taking down the video and engaging the management directly. If, after proper communication, the management fails to act according to the applicable laws or regulations, then the matter can be brought before the appropriate authorities or made public for further scrutiny. This is simply my personal point of view. No one should attack me in the comment section because of my opinion.
