I used to play AYSO in socal. Each time Redlands(his hometown) hosted a tournament, the 1st place team from each age group were gifted tickets to a Galaxy game for the entire team, with field access before the game. All gifted by Landon Donovan.

my dad was a club coach for my brother and sister. my mom was team mom. they had a lot of players who couldn't afford to be on the team but they had such talent. I remember how much they would fundraise and get sponsorships so everyone would have the same opportunities.

Not every soccer team needs to be travel. Stop selling parents on a travel dream when their kid can just play rec.

Yes, I am a teacher and I have a student who as an amazing control of the ball and movement of the game, but can’t play at a higher level because unfortunately he lives in a single parent household.

He is right! It’s about making it affordable. However, we need more nationwide public parks with soccer courts where kids can go out and play 4v4 with their friends to build their technical ability without the dependency of organized soccer sessions.

In LA, the Clippers sponsor the basketball rec league gym and kids play for free if their family makes less than $90k. Professional teams in every city should be giving back and sponsoring rec leagues.

Easiest thing to do is take away all sorts of travel ball and keep it within the schools. That goes for all sports. If the good coaches want good pay then they have to win it at a school level only and earn more money.

I know a kid in south Texas that had to be played up three age divisions because he was that good but stop playing due to the high fees!! US soccer should have paid for this kids training you never know!!

The reality is that, in European countries, soccer is #1 sport so the professional clubs have mega $$ to invest in youth soccer because they will eventually get a ROI through player development.
