I get the Elliot Page example, but they also do clearly show that he was a younger boy who was tricked into taking someone else's place, not a selected and carefully trained soldier.

i think you’re wrong about elliot page, he gives a great appearance as Sinon because a child that goes to war for 10 years would look very aged. let’s say he was 11 to 21, he grew up in war. he looks very worn and the wrinkles, expression, dried skin portrays that the character has not been in rest in a long time.

you almost got there. sinon was a child when he was drafted and is still a child after the war. he’s supposed to be small. I think it actually furthers the anti war sentiment in the movie to see a small kid rather than a huge Greek warrior in the beginning

Sinon isn’t even in the Odyssey story. I don’t understand why the character was in the movie

Robert Patterson is 40 dude. Does he look like a 25 yr old. The point of Sinon being his frame was the whole point. They left him behind hoping they wouldn’t kill him. He was taken advantage of because he gave his life in hoping his family was cared for. Page did great but you’re entitled to your opinion

While I don’t necessarily agree it’s at least a fair critique about Elliot’s casting. I’ll counter with this though, war ages people. They were fighting for a decade

I wish imax wasn’t sold out everywhere. The movie was phenomenal though. My issue with the casting was tom holland. I can’t take him serious in the role. Unfortunately his boyish looks made his scenes where he had to be tough unconvincing.

Average Greek soldiers were 5’5 and weighed nothing soaking wet bro… and half them were like averaging 14 at the beginning of the ten year war and were in there early 20s at the end. No one understands how small these soldiers were. Sparta were the largest at an average of like 5’6-5’8 people really out here believing they weren’t all little malnourished dweebs. But with how we perceive these warriors from film, I get what you’re saying.

Along the lines of physique great Greek warriors … Achilles was supposed to be able to impersonate a woman. So maybe there is a irrelevant bias of a fictional character.
