best thing for IVs in kids, dementia and trauma patients is a "ranger IV". place and IV like you normally would. connect a cath plug to it and cover the whole thing with a tegaderm. insert another angiocath through the plug and into the first IV and connect your line.

Umm nasal piercing here we come… jk but why not just put an end tidal cannula on. My luck they would be a mouth breather and it doesn’t work anyways. RRT here lol!

Our hospital doesn’t allow modifications to manufacturers equipment. They catch someone doing that, especially if a negative issue happens, they’ll put your hotdog in a bun and chow down. But I guess everywhere is different.

Great tip. I go to surgery centers that don’t buy ETCO cannulas or run out frequently. In a pinch this would work great. 👍
