The cop was likely a psychopath and was waiting for someone to run over the turtle for his own sick amusement. When you saved the turtle it pissed him off.

Smart move to just take the ticket. You can request the body cam and argue your position in court. I’m pretty confident that a judge will throw this out

Always always ALWAYS record interactions with police. You have a legal right to do so that the police cannot infringe on. The police bodycam can be redacted even if you request their footage.

So…cops have time to ticket people for saving turtles, but they didn’t have time to come to my car accident last year because no one was injured? Right, makes perfect sense. It is genuinely astonishing how they manage to be so useless and yet inconvenient at the same time.
