I love the detail where Ruby is worried he will get hurt so says not to touch it. It’s the caring for Steven that made me think this wasn’t a new gem originally and than that slide was all garnet so that’s when I knew :)

i remember in the eeeaaaarly days the theory around garnet having two gems was that in order for a gem to be born a parent had to die, and the reason garnet was so strong was that both of her parents had passed. Theory evaporated as soon as this episode was released
