@travellingwithdora: Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the most recommended and most visited sites in Croatia. We went in July 2026 and here is everything you need to know to help you plan your visit to Plitvice Lakes and tips for you to have the best experience. 1. Ticket prices vary by season. In peak season (July - Sept) in can reach €40 per person whereas in low season (Nov-March) it is only €10. Parking is also an additional €2/hr on top. So yes, it is quite expensive but in my opinion, the lakes are quite beautiful, the park is large and you can spend a whole day there so it is worth it 2. The best view points are located near entrance one so I would take my time when I walk around here and enjoy the views and the beautiful clear water. You don’t need to rush through this part as I really think this part (lower lakes) is much nicer than the upper lakes. I would recommend being here when the sun is up e.g morning and early afternoon as towards the end of the day the position of the sun casts shadows on the water which means they don’t shine the brilliant blue colour. 3. One day is definitely enough for the lakes. There are many preplanned routes you can take. I would recommend route A if you only have 2-3 hours and route C if you have a whole day. Route A covers only the lower lakes whereas Route C covers the lower and upper lakes and you need to catch the ferry and bus. Route C is the most popular route so it is very busy but I believe it is the best route so it is popular for a reason. They both start at entrance 1. 4. Yes it will be busy! Be prepared for big crowd especially during peak season (summer months). It is especially busy around entrance 1 at the lower lakes and it gets better at upper lakes. We waited 1 hour for the ferry and 40 mins for the bus because there were such long lines 5. Check the weather and dress appropriately! Bring proper sun protection if it’s summer and wear comfortable shoes. Pack water/food. There is food inside but it’s not that great and expensive and you are able to save time by eating whilst waiting in line 6. The nice aerial viewpoints are after the train ride at st1 as you walk towards entrance 1. A lot of people miss this because there are two paths so make sure you take the path closer to the lakes if you want these aerial viewpoints.
