Ok we have very similar hair types and this is what works for me- immediately after rinsing conditioner use a leave in after that I clip it up for a couple minutes and put it in a towel while I get dressed or whatever. After that I section it into two and brush it but make sure the hair is fully clumped together after I brush not stringy or brush styled. Followed with mouse or foam I glaze it and scrunch it in VERY GENTLY still trying to keep my hair in large clumps. Then I finger coil the back of my head bc that section never holds a curl for me. Add gel and diffuse and it doesn’t come out crunchy at all. Hope this helps cause I was on the struggle bus for the longest

Keep the mouse, throw in a sea salt spray, and use the air dry gel, the Jvn is good but so is Odele and it’s much cheaper! Also that brush is great, you don’t see it immediately, it’s more the drying part that’s important, make sure it’s 100% dry before messing with it, trust me!

I feel like the routine u did is for much curlier hair, because they create curl clumps w that brush. I think you could’ve just brushed regularly, put product through your hair and rake with just your fingers and then scrunch. And put mouse more in the roots, it can dry out your hair. But still looks v pretty

I’m also on a wavy hair journey! What u e found for me is get out of shower, plop in tshirt while I do my skin care, remove plop, SMALLLLL amount of very lightweight gel, scrunch, FOAM not mousse but like a lot especially in the roots, scrunch a bunch, plop again and leave it in the tshirt plop for as long as feels right and honestly my waves/curls have never been better. All the steps, products, diffusing, etc. was just weighing my curls down. They’re getting soo much better now

for me, my hair stylist told me not to use cream. he said it can be too heavy of a product for wavy/curly hair! he recommended just using mousse, texture spray, gel, and then scrunching with oil once dry!
