For anyone wondering, my brother and I have the same dad but different moms. When we were little, we were basically attached at the hip 24/7. We did everything together, and he was always asking to come over to our dad’s house just so he could see me. We were incredibly close, and some of my favorite childhood memories are with him. Sadly, his mom stopped letting him come around because she doesn’t like my mom. Because of that, I haven’t seen my brother in five years. I don’t even have any recent pictures with him only pictures from when we were little. I miss him more than words can explain. Every time I think about him, I start tearing up. When people ask me about my older brother and want me to tell them about him, I usually just tell them his name because if I say anything more, I’ll probably start crying. It’s hard knowing that some of my memories with him are starting to feel so far away. Five years is a long time when you’re growing up, and there have been so many moments I wish he could have been there for. Sometimes I wonder if he knows how much I miss him or how often I think about him. No matter how much time passes, there’s always going to be a part of me that misses having my big brother around. The good news is that he’s graduating this year, and after five years, I finally get to see him again. I’ve dreamed about this moment for so long, but it’s emotional knowing that we lost so many years we can never get back.
