The criticism that Nolan didn't show the Sirens or let the audience hear their song, choosing instead to mute it, actually reinforces the whole idea even more. Temptation was so strong that even the audience behind the screen wanted to hear it now imagine how Odysseus' men felt

i actually like the idea of the sirens song being muted for us. I've always interpreted the sirens song as being something personal. Like their singing brings out something in you on an individual level and the song doesn't sound the same for everyone. If Nolan made it so that it's just one generic song, i feel like it'd lose its magic

I think it also added to the plot later on when it's revealed why Odysseus feels so guilty and shameful and didn't wanna go home. The sirens may have been mentioning the beheading of Zendaya's Athena character, which isn't revealed until later on in the film, so it was a good foreshadowing movement instead of just saying oh here's what you feel guilty about.

I don’t think it’s a sound that can be recreated, he said it’s everything YOU want to hear, “and it told me I don’t really want to go home” everyone is hearing something different I believe

I liked that we didn’t hear it. It made it more powerful and immersive like if we were there too watching Odysseus go crazy and the soldier who actually jumped off. It made us think and want to hear what it sounds like.
