@exchangingtheworld: Every time I share one of our HomeExchange stays, I get so many questions, so here’s a little peek inside our “home” for the week. 🏡 We’re actually staying in this same home for the second time because we loved it that much. It’s in the perfect location for exploring Western North Carolina, and we’ll be here for six days before heading to our next HomeExchange. @homeexchangecom One of my favorite things about traveling this way is that once we’ve paid our annual HomeExchange membership (currently $235), our accommodations for each exchange are $0 per night. That means we can spend our travel budget on experiences instead. We cook several meals at home, then treat ourselves to things we can’t do back home, like local breweries, incredible restaurants, sunset hikes, and exploring charming mountain towns. It’s made travel feel so much more accessible for our family, and it’s the biggest reason we’ve been able to travel as much as we do. Today, we visited a school in Lebanon that is sheltering displaced Lebanese families who were forced to leave their homes because of the situation and the injustice they are currently facing in southern Lebanon. It was an extremely difficult reality to witness. Behind the doors of some classrooms, you no longer find only students, but entire families who have lost everything. Sometimes, more than four families are living together in a single classroom. We tried to provide as much support as possible to these families, but what touched me the most was seeing how everyone was thinking about the suffering of others. The families feel sad and uncomfortable occupying the classrooms because they know it means there is less space for the children to continue their education. And the children, in turn, feel sad studying in a place where families whose homes have been bombed, and who have sometimes lost everything, are now forced to live. Two different kinds of suffering, brought together in the same place, yet each side is still thinking about the other. 💔 We may not be able to stop all this injustice on our own, but we can continue to be present, to support, to help, and to bring a little hope to those who need it most. May Allah protect all these families, return them safely to their homes, and grant them better days ahead. 🤲🏼🇱🇧
