my headcannon is that in Gotham, making a contingency plan is a love language. because 99% of Batman's plans aren't for murking the targets, they're for putting them down long enough to fix whatever is wrong with them. it shows that you care enough about someone to want to heal them, rather than removing them from the picture entirely.
