You don’t own your shares then. Delta isn’t a constant

So do MSFT expiring 9/17/2027 and buy the $230 call (95 delta) for $18k? Instead of buying 100 shares for $40k?

Hmm, so you cud buy .95 leaps, and sell weekly .17 calls, I’m liking this idea..

Isn’t the downside of doing this, timing? Holding shares provides you insurance against a bad string of months at some point in the option chain.

What if the stock drop further after purchasing the call? You will lose all your premium. Buying call is a very bad idea.

Isn’t the answer to this theta ? You buy a stock you hold it forever. Every option you buy will go away at some point.

not financial advice. If you’re here and considering this, note: options have an expiration date, so your case has to be bullish. If you buy and hold stock you can wait it out, but if the stock moves down and you can’t (or don’t want to) sell the option before expiration, you are in for a bad loss scenario. So, the math here checks out, but only if you are bullish, also, don’t buy options before researching deeply.

why not go 24 months out to minimize theta decay? Then roll at 12 months left?

If it goes below strike you’ll exit with nothing but I guess it should be very unlikely if you pick common sense stocks…?
