@erikagrundon: Replying to @bhiravi_makes because a the partner expressed from the moment they got home they needed space to the point where they canceled the date. The secure partner empathizing the date needing to be canceled and giving them that space is meeting their needs and saying let me know if you need anything allows the person to come to them when they are ready. This creates safety in the relationship.
