This one makes me feel sick. The healthcare system failed her so badly. She did everything and more you’d tell someone they should do - reach out, ask for help, talk to doctors, take medication, follow up and let doctors know that you are feeling worse, tell them that you want to be committed for an evaluation … it’s not like she was suffering in silence and this happened out of nowhere. She was desperate for help, she continually sought help, she didn’t get the help she needed, and now 3 children are dead and she is paralyzed.

Because she is paralyzed from the chest down, she is not a threat to anyone. The case should be settled before trial. She will be in a hospital setting the rest of her life no matter how this plays out.

My question is why in such an ostensibly progressive (compared to Texas where I live) place as white collar Massachusetts is the DA doing this? This poor family is destroyed, the community is grieving. I have seen a real turning of the tide across the political spectrum of acknowledging that postpartum psychosis and not moral evil is to blame for this nightmare.
