Bc we literally cannot control who our parents are. We can set boundaries with them. But I’m no less deserving of love just bc my parents are homophobic

Dude some ppl literally think if you just nicely explain that you’re lgbtq+ to your violently homophobic parents they’ll magically understand and support you and it’s somehow your fault if they don’t :/

it’s so crazy that all lgbtq people aren’t understanding of this

never understood this bc I want my gf, not her family. It feels like an extremely selfish take to say that because you are dating someone their whole life must possibly collapse so everyone knows about you. I don’t care about being known by anyone but my girl, and like truly her safety and happiness comes first, I can understand why someone might want to be close w their partners family, but it’s on you if you continue to see said person

My WIFE does not have any contact with my family (neither do I) but her mom is so very loving and caring and kind to us. The family you build is always more important than the one you were born into

My gf hides me (we're both trans) and although I get sad at her situation sometimes, I don't ever hold it against her. I love her and I understand her family situation doesn't reflect who she is. We all deserve love.

My bf is trans and I’m cis and my mother isn’t okay with it. I’ve spent our entire relationship fighting against my mother, destroying our relationship, and eventually realizing my only option is to cut her out of my life. But I did it for him. And I’d do it a hundred times for him

nvr understood homophobic parent being a dealbreaker like ur not dating her family ur dating her. the only time i can see it being an issue if they overly cared about their opinion ex: internalized homophobia, not seeing themselves marrying a women bc they family is against it etc other than that idgaf 🤷🏾♀️

Hate to say it but sometimes people who are out and have the privilege of being in good terms with their parents are terrible allies to people who are closeted and from less accepting backgrounds 😀

I think it all boils down to that person's boundaries. I've learned that I'm not able to date somebody with overly homophobic parents who is deeply attached to them and allow them to have a say in their life. Some people might be able to allow that but I know I and most people can't and that's okay.

as someone with that gf obviously it’s sad that i can’t have that kind of relationship with her family but i also understand that it’s not her fault and i’m willing to pretend around them because she’s worth it for me

especially when they’re under the age of like 22. if you’re still in school don’t let a girl make u feel bad for not coming out to homophobic family yet. have an honest conversation before the relationship starts and the right person won’t hold it against u and will wait

And I hate people that say “they don’t really love you, if they can’t tell their parents” and I’m like wtf, it’s not their fault that they have parents who don’t accept

used to sneak into my gfs house to have sleepovers w her when her mom didn't know abt us , true love is adapting to the conditions ur person faces even if they are not your own !!

i never understand that. it’s not the gf’s fault for having homophobic parents and there’s nothing she can do to change it. just know it’s never your fault and you’re doing the best you can with what you’ve been given 🫶🏼

People sometimes don’t realize just how deep homophobia really goes. Not everyone is receptive to changing their ways and it’s unfortunate but nothing you did wrong. I’m sorry you can’t have that relationship and I hope you do have family that are supportive but the family I’ve gained from openly being a lesbian and having gay friends and that community feels just like a biological family’s love 💖

It’s even worse when your parent was “supportive” but randomly became a raging homophobe once they realized it wasn’t a phase 😐

If my parents can’t love my person and treat her with respect, they’re not entitled to know her. Protecting her from that isn’t disrespect but love

It’s genuinely the hardest thing to deal and cope with. The constant guilt of not being able to really “be tg”, but loving her so deeply to the point where i don’t want to let her go.
