This is EXACTLY right. My version of this story just happened two days ago. Upstairs central AC unit died during 90+ temps 🥵. The company than won my business did so by setting me up for an install the following business day AND put in two window units just to get us through the next 24 hours.

Great story and visualisation of the problem. I do actually want to create the better mousetrap, meaning a product which makes the same job easier and more intuitive. But when it comes to selling it, the product will hopefully be presented as the 15 minute driver. Or rather the driver who comes with a courtesy car so I can continue my journey right there and then.

Since the customer called that tow truck service, that means that he's already made his choice i.e. the sale has already been made, therefore there's no need to sell him again on your service (scenario 1). The first scenario would only apply in a marketing context.
