this reminded me of this Turkish drama called Fatmagul where a girl was SAed by i think 3 guys but the fourth one was present and did nothing to prevent it which labeled him as the nice guy and she later on got married to him at the end of the drama 😭

I think it can come from a place of fear. They’re probably a people pleaser and so got roped into the whole thing. They know they’re bad people but they think if they aren’t bad themselves and are nice to everyone then it won’t affect them and for the most part that’s right. Could also be autistic, not understanding social ques and being to “nice”.

people pleasing is in fact manipulative behavior and you literally lose yourself when you do it. i’m a recovering people pleaser and tbh some people hate me more because of it and i do not blame them. i’m way happier now that i’m becoming someone people have opinions on rather than “oh she’s nice ig” or the “she’s two-faced” because i wasn’t being honest with anyone, not even myself. i was two-faced and my need to “avoid drama” caused me to get into even worse drama that had bigger consequences. i lost people i would have actually been great friends with because i wanted to be liked by people who secretly (and outwardly) hated me.
