@insidertoronto: WANT more Toronto history? Go to insidertoronto.ca to join our history mail club! Trusting a 150-year-old map led to a hidden piece of Toronto's past. Tucked away between modern suburban homes, the remains of the historic York Mills Baptist Church cemetery (c. 1832) still survive. It holds connections to early pioneers and the prominent Gooderham family. #toronto #torontohistory #History #oldmap #cemetery
I know that’s not 150 year-old map because iPads didn’t even exist till like 100 years ago

I grew up in York Mills too. Drove by this cemetery every day for 38 years before I discovered it!

This is very neat. M.Atwood novels activated my love of TO history. Worked at ST.J Noway cemetery for a spell which increased it 10X

My grandmother's parents ran a mission church in Cabbagetown in the 30s and I've never been able to figure out where it would have been

Sorry, My great uncles used to own the Jolly Miller 100 years ago. Their granddad was a quartermaster at the fort.
