@aimiestoevelaar: For those of you who don’t like the baby phase you’re not alone 🫶🏼😭 #newbornstruggles #parenthoodstruggles #postpartumjourney #postpartumdepresssion #aussiemum
I'm right there with you! I've a nearly two year old and an 8 week old and me and my husband just aren't newborn parents. we are toddler parents. LOVE the toddler stage. I don't want that to go but newborn stage- bon voyage 🙈 if I could birth one year olds I would. the constant cycle of feeding, trying to get them to nap, it's exhausting.

thank you, FTM who feels all of this and is so sad looking at other mums soaking in newborn bubbles and I feel guilty wanting this stage to pass as it is so difficult for us.

It’s not that you don’t love him it’s that you don’t love this time. There is a lot to do at these stage and your feelings are valid

Just got through the colic/reflux/CMPI with my girl. That time was all a blur. It was stressful af.

yes!! so so me, I have a 9 week old and love her but I'm counting down the days until this is over. I can't wait for her to be older and love our toddler. I also have to keep saying this is temporary, this ends. we are also active people, I feel like it's groundhog Day just constant naps and breastfeeding. having people over really helps.

I had such a good first baby. But I can’t say I enjoyed the new born stage at all! I’m not a baby person. One day when they are are grown a bit Itl be my time to shine but I’m due with my second and have a 3 year old and I know I’ll struggle with another u till it gets easier. We are a farming outdoor family and when they are old enough to come with and participate it’s gunna be so worth it 🥰

I honestly don’t even remember 0-4 months with my second. But the moment she turned 6 months I exhaled and I am really enjoying it now. It wasn’t her. It was me.

I had a CMPI baby and I hated the newborn stage. My baby turns one next week and she is so full on but it feels 1 million times easier than a baby screaming for hours due to undiagnosed CMPI. Mums I've spoke to have told me how much easier the newborn stage is compared to having a toddler but I highly disagree!

Have a 3 mo old so far, and it’s not enjoyable. He just cries and cries and 3 pediatricians have said it’s normal. I’m ready for him to start pre-k😅

I agree, I don’t like it either. I have a 7 year old and a 4 month old, I swear it took me 6 years to want a newborn again lol. My first was a colic/reflux baby who never slept. I love when they start to be a little more independent and start to give back with smiles, cute talking etc. you’re not alone

Feel this so so much! The reflux/colic just makes it so hard to feel this stage as bubbly… and way more trenchy, for me who currently has an 8 week old who has really really struggled during these last 4 weeks. I see you and I resonate with some much of this! You’re not alone 🫶🏻

I felt the exact same with my 2nd baby. I would always look at my toddler and mourn the part I was missing on with her whilst caring for my 2nd.

A friend asked me if I was loving the newborn stage and my response was literally “what is there to love?” Colic and trapped gas with my first and just felt lonely with my second. My husband and toddler were off having fun and I was exhausted feeling like I was just stuck with the baby all the time. You’re not alone! But also, now my youngest is 2.5 and I’d kill for a little snuggly baby instead of a tantrum queen some days 🤣🤦🏻♀️

All your and your husbands points are totally valid. Also specifically - the baby stage with reflux / colic / and/or allergies on board is completely different. The baby stage is all about eating, sleeping, and pooping - having just one of those on board makes all of those incredibly difficult to support - there’s a much larger physical, mental, and emotional load as a result. Your parenting experience and demands are inherently different - it’s hard because it is soooooo much harder not because you guys or bubba are doing a bad job. I’ve never met a parent with one or more of those three factors in play that has enjoyed the newborn bubble (what bubble?!!) or thoroughly enjoyed the baby stage. How can you enjoy it when baby is so uncomfortable, in pain, disrupted and distressed?! Please also know that as their bodies mature and you figure out the secret sauce for managing the reflux and what’s causing colic (increasingly health profs are admitting colic is a no frogging idea diagnosis and 90% of the time an allergy not yet identified) it will absolutely get better. It’s impossible to love every moment - love them through it and you’re nailing it, and love the moments that don’t suck! That’s all you can do. You’re doing fab. Been there, I see you, I get it.
