@le_disco_mama: Sometimes it looks like organizing a junk drawer. Not because a junk drawer changes everything… but because it reminds you of something you can control. One of the hardest lessons after abuse is accepting that you can’t control someone else’s choices. You can’t stop someone from lying, manipulating, escalating, or trying to pull you back into chaos. If someone is determined to create conflict, they’re going to create conflict. But you can decide where your energy goes. You can organize the drawer. You can clean the house. You can go to the gym. You can plant a garden. You can cook a healthy meal. You can read a book. You can build a business. You can spend time with people who love you. You can learn a new skill. You can go to therapy. You can rest. You can laugh. You can build a life that doesn’t revolve around someone else’s dysfunction. Abuse trains the brain to obsess over the next crisis. Healing retrains the brain to come home to your own life. Every minute spent worrying about what they’re doing is a minute that could be invested in building peace instead. The irony? While they’re busy trying to control your life, you’re quietly creating one they no longer have access to. That’s how real healing begins. If you’re rebuilding after abuse, Finding Love After Abuse is linked in the bio. ❤️
