I’m the lineman who got called out there to help, we went to disconnect the power but the breaker was in the basement of a substation and was locked so it took an extra 30 minutes to figure out who had the keys. In the meantime the fishing game came and was about to euthanize it because they didn’t want to shut power down to the residents because his house was down there and he suspected his wife was having an affair and shutting off the power would kill his camera. He was willing to use a tranq dart instead but at that height he’d have died anyway so we called some local carneys to see if they had any nets for a trampoline, so they brought that over and started setting it up. The first dart completely missed the bear and because he was almost right under him shooting nearly straight up the dart came back down and hit a bystander that was recording everything, which is why there’s no video, he’s still sleeping, I’m sure he’ll post it if he wakes up. The next dart did hit him and he landed right in the net but it didn’t knock him completely out because it hit him in the pinky toe so he was surrounded by carneys and one clown so he was spooked and ran right back up the pole! That’s when this video was taken, you can tell he’s all groggy in this. By this point we got the breaker switched off so I said I had to run and grab some tools but really I took the bucket truck down to the wardens house to visit his wife while the cameras were down. By the time I got back they already had coaxed it down with some leftover Taco Bell someone had in their car, I think it was a Crunchwrap supreme.
