A european once said to me that all Americans regardless of race are dogs, that we are all mixed breed mutts, and this was said with genuine distaste. I was so thrown off by it that I didn't even know how to respond.

A lot of it is classism or just stereotypes about a certain region that tends to be poorer. Most Italian-Americans come from southern Italy. The things that Italians say about Italian-Americans are the same they say about southern Italians.

Yup. There’s so many Irish in Boston that you have people like my moms family with 100% Irish ancestry. Yet the way the Irish talk about their diaspora is like we were never related to them to begin with, and how dare we acknowledge genetic history.

Accurate. My dad is Croatian and I was born here in the states. If you were to ask a Croat if I was Croatian it would be a hard no. BUT If I were a famous athlete, actor, or businessman of notoriety, I would be Croatian 😂.

I just went to Rome and other cities of the Lazio region of Italy. I saw American brands and American music EVERYWHERE. They hate us but want all of our exports. Never been happier to be Italian American after going. Our own culture, different from Italy.

When I traveled in Europe, everywhere I went was playing American Christmas music. I think I heard one (1) non-American song. All I could think was, "You've been celebrating Christmas longer than us. Don't you have your own music?"

When it comes to Latin Americans towards their Latino American 🇺🇸 diaspora, they always clown on Spanglish. However Latin Americans in Latin America WILLINGLY talk Spanglish bc it is seen as “cool” and “what a social media influencer should do.” Mind you, they do that solely because they see Latino Americans 🇺🇸 doing it. It’s so weird
