One of my “best” friends actually said about a month in “I kinda wish my husband would cheat so I could lose weight too” I had not been able to eat for 4 weeks. 135 to 117 was so unhealthy .. not my friend anymore.

I had a wonderful friend say “This is not happening TO you. This is happening FOR you.” She said it over & over during the 3 years from discovery to divorce finality. That statement made me rise up over & over & it kept me looking at all the good that was happening.

Personally, it wouldn’t bother me one bit if my friends said any of those things. Different personalities. In their minds, they may have thought their words were supporting you during your pain.

#1-3 was what I heard over and over and it felt like a knife in the heart every time. It made me feel like they were telling me what an idiot I was and how they all knew it. It was so hurtful and SO not helpful.

When a friend was going through this I sat in shock with no words I just told her her that her hurt was worse then me loosing my husband to sudden illness who left loving me!! She had to watch the man she loved cheat with another woman…, that was the saddest thing 😢
