What do you do with the books you are purging? Donate or do you try to sell them? Just curious. I hold onto mine because I feel like it’s such a waste of money if I don’t,,, even if I bought them 10 years ago.

I used to sort my shelves by read and unread also. Then I got frustrated about how often I needed to shift things around. So, I have since been sorting by genre for the most part and I leave my unread books upside down. This way I can still see them but it’s also a clue for myself as to what I need to read.

All my unread books live on a little ikea kart, it’s so cute! Then my bookshelves are just my 4/5 star reads. If it’s not a 4/5 star I donate it immediately.

I discovered I have have 3 books from 2021 and 3 books from 2024 that I haven’t read yet (and like 40 others from 2025 and 2026). So now I really want to read those first, but they are fantasy where I generally like thriller more which makes it so hard to pick them up 😩

Aside from classics, my library only holds read books. I have my TBR in a different room and limit myself to those shelves. If there’s space on my TBR shelves I can buy books, if there isn’t, I can’t!
